Driver Agreement

Terms of Service for Recoverer Recovery Drivers

Last updated: July 2026 — Recoverer Ltd

Key points you must understand

  • You are self-employed, not an employee of Recoverer
  • You receive 75% of every job, plus 100% of any premium, paid to your bank after each job
  • Never accept cash — card payment only, always through the app
  • Never share personal phone numbers or contact details with customers
  • Never arrange jobs directly with customers outside the platform

1. Your status

You are a self-employed independent contractor, not an employee of Recoverer Ltd. You are responsible for your own tax, National Insurance, insurance, vehicle maintenance, and fuel costs. Recoverer provides a technology platform to connect you with customers — it does not control your hours, routes, or methods of work. You are free to accept or decline any job, set your own availability, and work for other recovery platforms simultaneously.

2. Commission and payment — 75/25 split

For every job completed through the Recoverer platform, you receive 75% of the job value. Recoverer retains 25% as its Service Fee. All customer payments are collected by card through the platform — you must never accept cash, bank transfers, or any payment directly from a customer. Doing so is a serious breach of this agreement and will result in immediate account termination. Premiums are added to the customer's price and paid to you in full: +£10 for night jobs (10pm–6am), +£15 for accident or winch recovery jobs, and +£15 for motorway jobs. The 25% Service Fee is not applied to premiums — the customer funds them and you keep all of the amount.

3. Payouts

You are paid per job, not weekly. Your share is transferred to your Stripe account as soon as you mark a job complete, and Stripe pays it into your nominated bank account automatically on its standard schedule (typically within a few working days of your first payout). Your statement itemises every job, including callout, mileage, premiums and the total. You must complete Stripe payout setup and provide valid UK bank details before you can be paid. Recoverer is not responsible for delays caused by Stripe or by your bank.

4. No cash — ever

Cash payment is strictly prohibited on the Recoverer platform. You must never request, accept, or suggest cash payment from any customer. If a customer offers cash, you must decline and remind them that payment is handled automatically through the app. Any driver found to have accepted cash, arranged side payments, or manipulated the payment system will have their account permanently terminated and may be subject to recovery of lost commission.

5. No personal contact exchange

You must not share your personal phone number, email address, social media accounts, or business card with any customer. You must not ask customers for their personal contact details. All communication with customers must go through the Recoverer platform's masked calling system. You must not arrange future recovery jobs directly with customers you met through Recoverer. You must not solicit customers to use your personal services or any competing platform. These rules protect you from unwanted contact and liability, and protect customers' privacy. Violation will result in account suspension or termination.

6. Privacy protection — how it works

When a job is assigned, you will see the customer's first name, vehicle details, and pickup location — nothing more. Phone calls are routed through Recoverer's masked number system: you and the customer can call each other, but neither party sees the other's real phone number. The masked number expires automatically 30 minutes after the job is completed. Customer email addresses, home addresses, and payment details are never visible to you. This system protects both you and the customer.

7. Document requirements

To drive on the Recoverer platform, you must maintain at all times: a valid full UK driving licence, valid commercial vehicle insurance covering recovery operations, a valid MOT certificate for your recovery vehicle, an Operator's Licence (if required for your vehicle class), and public liability insurance of at least £1 million. You must upload copies of all documents to your Recoverer profile. The platform will alert you 30 days before any document expires. If a document expires and is not renewed, your account will be automatically suspended until the updated document is uploaded and verified.

8. Job acceptance and conduct

A job is offered to every capable driver nearby at once, and the first to accept it gets it — there is no fixed countdown on your side. There is no penalty for declining a job. However, consistently low acceptance rates (below 50%) may affect your priority ranking for future job assignments. Once you accept a job, you must proceed to the pickup location without unnecessary delay. You must keep the customer informed of your ETA through the app. You must treat all customers with professionalism and courtesy. You must not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs while on the platform. You must follow all road traffic laws. You must not drive while using a handheld phone.

9. Vehicle standards

Your recovery vehicle must be clean, roadworthy, and professionally presented at all times. It must carry all necessary recovery equipment (straps, wheel skates, warning lights, hi-vis clothing). The vehicle must display appropriate signage and lighting as required by law. Recoverer reserves the right to inspect vehicles and suspend drivers whose vehicles do not meet our standards.

10. Ratings and performance

Customers rate you after every job from 1 to 5 stars. You can see your overall average rating but not individual customer ratings. Drivers with a rating below 4.0 will receive a warning and performance review. Drivers whose rating remains below 3.5 after review may be removed from the platform. You may dispute a rating if you believe it is unfair — contact driver-support@recoverer.co.uk within 7 days.

11. Insurance and liability

You are responsible for maintaining your own commercial insurance. You are liable for any damage caused to customer vehicles during recovery. Recoverer is not your insurer and does not cover damage claims. You must report any incidents, accidents, or damage immediately to both your insurer and to Recoverer at incidents@recoverer.co.uk. Failure to report incidents may result in account termination.

12. Termination

Either party may terminate this agreement at any time with immediate effect. You may deactivate your account at any time through the app. Recoverer may terminate your account immediately for: accepting cash payments, sharing personal contact details with customers, arranging jobs outside the platform, abusive or threatening behaviour, fraudulent activity, driving under the influence, or consistently poor service. Upon termination, any outstanding earnings will be paid in the next scheduled payout cycle.

13. Data protection

Recoverer collects your name, phone number, email, vehicle details, GPS location during active jobs, bank details for payouts, and document copies. This data is processed in accordance with UK GDPR. GPS tracking is active only when you are online and during active jobs — it is not tracked when you are offline. You may request a copy of your data or request deletion (subject to legal retention requirements) by contacting privacy@recoverer.co.uk.
